Home-made Explosion

Price $3

You've probably seen someone do this before, but I'm reminding you. Plus, you could easily find new ways of using this in pranks, etc. Simple...go buy a 2-liter of Coke and a pack of Mentos. All you do is carefully & quickly drop the entire pack of mentos, unwrapped, in the bottle and place the cap back on the 2-liter. Do not screw it on more than just a tiny bit. The 2 items will react with each other and cause the 2 liter to basically explode upward. Of course, be sure to stand back.

PS...This will blow the mind of anyone under the age of 10.

Boulder- (Large Scale Cops and Robbers)

Here's a game you can play when you're feeling active and think you can find another handful of active people. It's called boulder for no known reason, just live with it. All it will cost you is a few bucks in gasoline.

Basic game- It's cops and robbers, but a larger version. Group up into two teams. This game works best with 8-12 players, so two teams of 4-6. Simple goal, one team tries to get to the base with for points, while other team tries to capture the other team for points.

Rules- Drop Robbers off at location 1 to 2 miles away from a house or aparment that you will use for home base. They have a certain time period to make it back to the home base or else they lose their points.(30-45min) Use streets and large markings for boundaries. Robbers get 5 minutes after they are dropped off to escape the drop off point. After five minutes the cops are allowed to leave home base in pursuit of the robbers.

Here's the kicker: Cops get to use cars to hunt down the robbers.
2 cars
2 drivers
2-4 runners
Can't baby sit home base, so pick a limit on how close cops can sit to home base.
Cops drive around or stake out at a certain point to catch robbers. Must physically tag robber for him to be captured.
Points-
Points are given for each person that makes it back to the base under the allotted time limit.
Points are given for each person a cop catches.
Play two rounds and add up the points to see what team wins the battle of boulder!

Feel free to tinker with the game and draw up new rules. It's a good workout and a lot of fun, but you might get in trouble for running through peoples yards so be smart about it.

Really fun at night but once again, could be more dangerous. Just be smart and use your head, remember it's just a game.

Free Movies

Price: 0$

Netflix offers a free one-month trial of its subscriptions with no penalty. Its pretty simple...go on Netflix.com and start the most expensive subscription they have (4 DVD at a time for $23.99/month). Then all you have to do is remember to cancel before the 2nd month goes into effect. Hey, if they are going to offer it, they have to expect free-loaders.

Silent Library, Oh what a good game!

This game is one of my FAVORITES! It's not for the meek or timid, it's for those willing to be bold and throw their ambitions into the wind. It's truth or dare meet Russian roulette. And if you can find 6- 8 people to sit down and sack up you could have yourself a blast.

Here are the general rules(feel free to spice them up):

-Sit down and brainstorm a list of ideas, these ideas can be anything from running around the block naked to snorting salt. Here's a list of ideas that we used but feel free to come up with your own depending on your level of craziness.

List:
-snort salt
- 3 shots of hot sauce
-Shot of toilet water
-5 shots to the RUMP with an airsoft gun
-Ride in trunk of car for a mile
- hit golf ball into downtown
- call an ex girlfriend/boyfriend and tell them you love him/her
- Text "SEX..." to a girl/guy in phone

The list can go on......
The GAME:
-Make a list of dares and write them down in any order.
-Get a stack of straws and cut one down to be the odd ball out. (you could use anything that would make the drawing random. A deck of cards, marked paper, and etc...)
-Have each person select a straw, and the short straw must do the dare or pay the penalty.
We had a penalty of 5 dollars if they didn't want to do the dare. NOT MANY PAID THAT PENALTY.
This game gives you chills, shakes, laughs, cries and everything you can imagine. Try it out and spice it up if need be!

Oh no, my car!

Here's a harmless prank guaranteed to get a laugh. The objective of this game is to see how many random people you can provoke/trick into calling you. Here's how...

1. Start by creating a handwritten note with the following information:
  • Your name (probably give a fake)
  • Your cell phone number (this has to be real)
  • A statement such as, "I'm so sorry I backed into your car! Call me at your convenience so we can settle the insurance claim."
    • Obviously you can substitute whatever clever phrase you'd like; creativity counts and might get you the victory here
2. Make copies of the aforementioned notes.

3. Walk around a busy parking lot full of cars (perhaps at a shopping mall or sporting event) and put the notes on the windshields of cars that are parked there.

4. Wait for the distressed owners to call you back. Laugh.

You can easily turn this into a multiple person/team contest by creating unique notes and then splitting up/ strategically placing your notes in various locations. The person or team who gets the most returned calls wins the challenge. Award bonuses for especially frantic or pissed off car owners.

Cost: Price of paper, pen and copies

*Not responsible if caller actually tries to blame you for car damage
(Helpful hint: pick a car that is in good condition)

Jolly Green Giant

It's that time of year when even the most timid Minnesotans are emerging from their winter hibernation.  The sun is shining, the temperatures are soaring to nearly 60 degrees; pale skin is exposed. What better way to beat one of the snowiest winters on record then by adding to the spring growth yourself.  Head down to your local home and garden store (even Wal-mart carries the necessary supplies) and pick up a seed starter kit and a variety of flowers and/or seeds. These kits are quite remarkable and the fruits of your labor will be evident rapidly (mine emerged after 2 days!). Once the plants are full grown and edible you'll be able to impress your significant other, or your mom, with a home cooked meal and a room full of fresh flowers. Who's got the green thumb now?

Price: < $8.00
Start up costs include purchasing seeds (range from $0.20 to $2.00 per package depending on what you want to grow), seed starter kit (not necessary, but a good idea until it gets a bit warmer) and a place to water and nurture your plants outdoors once they get a bit larger. If you get enough of your plants to grow, you'll be sure to save (or make) some money on veggies and can eat healthier than before!

Crossfire

Get 3 small short shot glasses and 2 tennis balls. Put the shot glasses in the middle of a long table. There are 2 teams (one on each side of the table). Team 1 starts by "flicking" a tennis ball and trying to hit one of the shot glasses in order to move it closer to the opposite side of the table. "Flicking" is actually not the same way one would consider flicking. It is done by only using one finger to hit the ball and you must start with your finger free (not levered against your thumb). You have to be very strict about this or the game will be too easy. Picture someone shooing away a fly but only with one finger. The goal of the game is just like crossfire where you try to move the shot glasses off the other end of the table. Depending on the table you have to decide where the "goal" boundaries are, but basically you want to use at least the whole end of the table. 2/3 shot glasses wins the game. Losing team takes a shot.

Lists Trivia

Price: $0 (just need internet)

A simple way of playing trivia....

On Wikipedia, you can find tons of ranked lists, ie (country by population, city by GDP etc.) My friends and I found one that ranks every country in the world by how much alcohol the average person consumes each year. One of us ran the game by proposing 2 countries to go head-to-head. Then everyone would vote who they think drinks more. Then we would tally the scores for each question. The loser after 10 rounds would take a shot. The tie breaker was always to have each person pick a country they think has the highest alcohol consumption. Higher consuming country wins.

Another way to play is to score on differential. This way if someone chooses Pakistan (0.0) over Ireland (13.7). At the end of the game, they will have 14 (13.7 rounded) drinks.

Of course it doesn't NEED to be a drinking game. Simple punishments are just fine.

Lake Harriet Bandshell

Price: $0

Lake Harriet has a nice bandshell with free concerts and movie screenings throughout the summer and fall http://www.minneapolisparks.org/default.asp?PageID=52&prid=1354 Also, the Oriental Garden is nearby, which is amazing, and I don’t like looking at flowers. This is an especially good idea for a date. You can walk/drive to many local restaurants and bars in the uptown area before or after.
